Most recreational divers are limited to dive no deeper than 40m, and under no circumstances are alllowed to go into decompression. There are numerous reasons why these are sensible limitations, lack of gas, dependency on a buddy, inefficiency of air as a decompression gas to name but a few.
Advanced nitrox diving introduces you to technical diving procedures and equipment considerations necessary for decompression diving. The decompression procedures course takes these concepts further and covers the following practical and theoretical elements:
- Stage rigging options
- Equipment requirements
- Decompression techniques
- Risk management
- Decompression breathing gases
- Dive planning
- Gas management
- Contingency planning
- Problem solving procedures
- Decompression and physiology theory
During the course you will plan simulated decompression dives and follow those plans on the dives, with a lot of emphasis team positioning, communiation, buoyancy, problem solving and self sufficiency. The course concludes with you going to decompression on the last 1 or 2 dives, to a maximum depth of 45m, and use hyperoxic nitrox mixtures to use as a decompression gas.
This course provides a solid foundation from which to continue your technical diving training, and opens up many more options with your diving.
